2015 AAPS National Biotechnology Conference Returns to San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -

WHO: The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists is a professional, scientific society of approximately 10,000 members employed in academia, industry, government and other research institutes worldwide. WHAT: The 2015 AAPS National Biotechnology Conference (NBC) will gather scientists from industry, government, and academia for three days of educational offerings specifically geared toward the biotechnology sector of the pharmaceutical sciences. This year, attendees will be able to attend one conference organized into five meeting workstreams:

  • Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) including Formulation, Characterization, Stability and Biomanufacturing;
  • Research and Discovery;
  • Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD), and Bioanalytics;
  • Regulatory; and
  • Biomarkers and Imaging

An integrated program will examine both science and application from multiple perspectives including discovery, development, engineering, and regulatory aspects.

The 2015 NBC programming will consist of a plenary session, 20 symposia, 8 roundtables, contributed paper poster presentations, four hot topics, and a late-breaking session. Additionally, an exposition hall will be hosting over 115 major companies featuring new technologies. There will also be job boards available highlighting new, biotechnology career opportunities, as well as the popular BioTalk and Mentoring Breakfast sessions.

PLENARY SPEAKERS:

  • Stefan Klein, Ph.D. - is a physicist, analytical philosopher and bestselling author who will talk about the science of Happiness -- how positive emotions evolve in the brain and can be turned into good feelings.
  • Atul Butte, Ph.D. - Director, Institute for Computational Health Sciences, Professor of Pediatrics, University of California, San Francisco, will cover the important topics of "Translating a trillion points of data into therapies, diagnostics, and new insights into disease".
